FlaBase: A Flamenco Knowledge Base

Description

FlaBase (Flamenco Knowledge Base) is the acronym of a new knowledge base of flamenco music. Its ultimate aim is to gather all available online editorial, biographical and musicological information related to flamenco music. A first version is just being released. Its content is the result of the curation and extraction processes explained in Sections \ref{sec:kb_curation} and \ref{sec:kb_extraction}. FlaBase is stored in JSON format, and it is freely available for download. This first release of FlaBase contains information about 1,102 artists, 74 {\it palos} (flamenco genres), 2,860 albums, 13,311 tracks, and 771 Andalusian locations.

Data sources

Data was compiled and curated from different sources: Wikipedia, DBpedia, Andalucia.org, elartedevivirelflamenco.com, MusicBrainz, flun.cica.es/index.php/grabaciones/base-datos-grabaciones and juntadeandalucia.es/institutodeestadisticaycartografia/sima

There are 5 folders. Inside of every folder, each entity is stored in a single JSON file. The folders are:

artists: All artists.

albums_db: Albums gathered from CICA discographic database 
Fields: artist, flabase_album_id, flabase_artist_id, formato, songs, title. [Songs Fields]: album, album_id, artist, duration, flabase_artist_id, flabase_guitarist_id, flabase_palo_id, flabase_song_id, guitarrist, palo, style, title 

albums_mb: Albums gathered from MusicBrainz 
Fields: date, flabase_album_id, flabase_artist_id, mbid_artist, mbid_release, songs, title. [Songs Fields]: mbid_recording, title 

palos: Flamenco genres 
Fields: andaluciaorg_title, andaluciaorg_url, dbpedia_uri, flabase_palo_id, flabase_type, wikipedia_html, wikipedia_text, wikipedia_title, wikipedia_url 

places: Andalusian locations 
Fields: flabase_place_id, name, province
